The AwwwMazing Place!
Boutique and Art Gallery

The AwwwMazing Place! Boutique

The A Way With Words Foundation made such an impression with their first-ever cancer boutique that the Southern Park Mall management moved them to a larger store location!

The Second GRAND OPENING of The AwwwMazing Place! Boutique and Art Gallery took place August 29th as a Rock and Roll event with the special guest appearance of Janet Macoska, the official photographer with the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Janet joined pop artist Chris Yambar for a print and book signing to celebrate the Second Grand Opening of The AwwwMazing Place! Boutique. Yambar created a series of stylized colorizations of Macoska’s rock-star photos that were exhibited in 1998. Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, and Tina Turner are among the subjects in the photo series to be displayed in the art gallery at the new location of the store.

19th Annual Fred Perry Motorcycle Run for Kids

At the 19th Annual Fred Perry Motorcycle Run for Kids, the R.O.C.c.K. Children's Choir performed the National Anthem just before the more than 3000 bikers started their engines for the all-day run. The Choir was chosen this year to be one of the recipients of the benefit proceeds of this largest and oldest motorcycle run fundraiser in Northeast Ohio.

On August 16th, the Fred Perry Motorcycle Run was held to benefit local children engaged in the biggest fight of their young lives. Bikers in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania affectionately call this "The Big One." Even during these tough economic times when money is tight, the participants gave generously not only with money, but their time as well. The Perry family made the run their life's "mission" in memory of Fred Perry, who started the benefit 19 years ago.

This year the Fred Perry Motorcycle Run chose three worthy recipients to help:

  • Josie Greco, age 18 of Edinburg, Pennsylvania who is in need of a kidney transplant and who has cerebral palsy;
  • Mariah Leskovac, age 4, of Girard, Ohio, who was diagnosed in May 2008 with Neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer;
  • Finally the R.O.C.c.K. Children's Choir of Youngstown, Ohio. ROCcK means Raising Our Commitment to cancer Kids. It's a Choir of children ages 3-17 who are comprised of survivors, siblings, and those who have been touched by cancer. The Choir serves as ambassadors for childhood cancer, bringing about inspiration and proof "There's Hope In What We Do."

At 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday November 11, 2009 at the AwwwMazing Place! Boutique in the Southern Park Mall, the Perry Family presented the proceeds of this year's run to the recipients. According to Antonette (Perry) Martin,"This is the most rewarding part of the event — seeing the joy that our family brings to so many — makes all the hard work worthwhile." The event was open to the public to meet the family who has proved "There's Hope in What They Do."
